My Vanity
Today I committed an extreme act of vanity and it made me feel incredible, the feeling it gave me I remembered is what drives me, the desire is what pushes me forward. My vanity is one of the greatest gifts God has blessed me with.
After this act of vanity I had to deliver a speech (It was about How I performed this incredible feat) I gave the speech and then an associate came up to me and she said “You are a great person and I love you” then she proceed to tell me “Although your vanity empowers you now in the end it is going to destroy you”.
I never take any offense (at ignorant people) but it struck a cord so I thought about it for about nine minutes till I remembered:
“Human beings are the only ones in nature who are aware that they will die. For that reason, I have a profound respect for the human race, and I believe that its future is going to be much better than its present. Even knowing that their days are numbered and that everything will end when they least expect it, people make their lives a battle that is worthy of a being with eternal life. What people regard as vanity – leaving great works, having children, acting in such a way as to prevent one’s name from being forgotten-I regard as the highest expression of human dignity.”
-From “The Pilgrimage” by Paulo Coelho.
I remembered the lines and I started to smile.
Conclusion: Life is beautiful and you should indulge every pleasure you want to indulge in.

Mav.
